wise up

Currently loving and listening to this song. Sung by one of my favorite female artists, Aimee Mann.

Wise Up

It's not
What you thought
When you first began it
You got
What you want
Now you can hardly stand it though,
By now you know
It's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
'Til you wise up

You're sure
There's a cure
And you have finally found it
You think
One drink
Will shrink you 'til you're underground
And living down
But it's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
'Til you wise up

Prepare a list of what you need
Before you sign away the deed
'Cause it's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
It's not going to stop
'Til you wise up
No, it's not going to stop
'Til you wise up
No, it's not going to stop
So just...give up

I am afraid I don't get this song. It could be interpreted so many different ways. To be honest it makes me nervous. Weird. I want to hear it though, the music sets the mood and may limit some of the possible interpretations.

it is kind of a melancholy song, actually--it fits my mood and current train of thought. But you really do have to hear it, I just love Aimee's voice. I'll put it on my iPod and next time I see you, I'll make you have a listen. I guess I like it so much because it reminds me of old times. Not neccessarily better times, but old times. I don't know if that makes sense.

yes it totally makes sense. Speaking of old times, wasn't that 80's e'mail from Mom great? They just missed that lip gloss in a tin and jelly shoes...
I can't wait to hear that song!
